The Oklahoma State University-Tulsa Board of Trustees elected Sean Kouplen, chairman and chief executive officer of Regent Bank, as board chairman for 2017-2018 during its June board meeting. Brett Lessley, president of Griffin Management Inc., was elected vice chairman and Pete Patel, founder, chief executive officer and president of Promise Hotels, as board secretary.

 “We are fortunate to have such visionary business leaders to serve as officers for the board of trustees for the coming year,” said OSU-Tulsa President Howard Barnett. “Each has demonstrated their commitment and dedication to the success of OSU-Tulsa and will apply invaluable knowledge to help us meet the higher education needs in the Tulsa community.”

 Patel earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management at OSU in 1994. He is the founder of Promise Hotels, which owns and operates hotels throughout eastern Oklahoma. Patel serves on numerous boards, including the Tulsa Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Oklahoma Hotel and Lodging Association and the Tulsa Hotel and Lodging Association.

 The trustees advise OSU-Tulsa on administrative and student services, facilities management, academic offerings and other campus matters.
